Biozentrum PhD Program - Opportunities for ExcellenceThe International PhD Program represents the flagship of the University of Basel Biozentrum’s long-standing commitment to first-class PhD training and education. It includes the Biozentrum’s focal areas Infection Biology, Growth and Development, Neurobiology and the two core programs Structural Biology & Biophysics and Genome Scale Biology & Bioinformatics.
In conjunction with the PhD program students can apply for a prestigious Fellowship of the Werner Siemens-Foundation. The fellowship offers direct access to the PhD programme, generous financial support, a rotation-based selection of the research group, and support for the attendance of scientific meetings and courses during the PhD. Basel Neuroscience ProgramThe Basel Neuroscience Program (BNP) is an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental education program for graduate Ph.D. students at the University of Basel. All activities of the BNP have recently been transferred to the newly established Centre for Competence Neuroscience Network Basel (NNB).
The NNB is a trans-disciplinary network of over 400 scientists from more then 40 groups from the University of Basel Biozentrum, the Department of Biomedicine, the University of Basel Hospitals, the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of the ETH Zurich, the Friedrich-Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research and the pharmaceutical industry.
The individual research groups cover a wide spectrum of neuroscience research ranging from basic to clinical and applied research. Representing among the highest densities of neuroscientists world-wide, the BNP provides outstanding research opportunities on all levels and a dynamic field for innovation.

PhD Program Plant Science Center Zurich-BaselThe Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center is a competence centre in the field of plant sciences and embodies an interdisciplinary association of cooperating scientists from eight different institutes at three universities (ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, University of Basel).
For its doctoral students the PSC offers the opportunity to obtain interdisciplinary research skills, methodological knowledge and personal/social competencies.
Among the goals of the PSC PhD Program in Plant Sciences are the objectives to introduce students to diverse conceptual and technical approaches of scientific research in plant sciences, and to make the competences and infrastructure of the three partner universities accessible to all participants.

PhD Program Swiss School of Public HealthThe Foundation Swiss School of Public Health plus SSPH+ was founded on 7 July 2005 by an agreement between the Universities of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano and Zurich. Since August 2008 the University of Neuchâtel has joined SSPH+. Its PhD Program Public Health is a training and network programme, which organizes national doctoral and pre-doc courses, many of them offered annually with national and international experts. Students, who join the program, are financially supported by SSPH+ for their training on an individual basis. Courses target students who already have a PhD research project in Public Health and are registered with one of the founding universities or the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich. The PhD degree is not provided by SSPH+ but by the university and faculty the student is registered with.
