Following the call of December 2007, 16 projects have been approved under the Swiss South African Joint Research Programme (SSAJRP). Eight of the projects received green light for funding after the first review, eight others were put on hold and have been granted funds as well in the meantime.
The selected projects involve highly experienced researchers from almost all Swiss cantonal universities and the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zürich and Lausanne as well as university hospitals and associated research institutes.
The University of Basel, participating with a total of five research projects in the Swiss-South African programme, has shown its scientific strengths in all related research topics.
