US Graduate Deans visit the University of Basel

In July, a delegation of twelve graduate deans from US universities led by Prof Karen de Pauw, Vice President and Dean for Graduate Education, Virginia Tech, visited the University of Basel. The delegation members were taking part in a study tour through Europe designed to provide insight to establishing international partnerships. The American guests met with representatives of the University of Basel including Prof Dr Claudia Opitz-Belakhal, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and a number of GPP alumni. They participated in a stimulating exchange on the opportunities and problems in bilateral exchange programmes such as the GPP and their financing.

Virginia Tech Global Scholars visit Uni Basel

A group of Virginia Tech undergraduates on a study abroad semester visited the University of Basel to take part in an exchange with Basel students. The group was led by Dr. Kim Carlson, Assistant Director of the Virginia Tech Presidential Global Scholars programme. During the morning's programme, Virginia Tech and University of Basel students were able to compare and and share their experiences and ideas in relation to the theme of Global Connectivity. Speaking on the theme from a variety of points of view were Prof. Wolfgang Meier, Nanosciences, University of Basel, Mr. Martin Seelmann, Faculty of Law, University of Basel, Prof. Macamo, Centre for African Studies, University of Basel and Dean Chang, Dean of the College of Science, Virginia Tech.
