Global Perspectives Programme

Virginia Tech and University of Basel participants, GPP 2012

Welcome

Facilitating the exchange of insights and daily life experiences by students from Switzerland and the US, the Global Perspectives Programme (GPP) is an excellent opportunity for participants with a keen curiosity about other cultures and countries and an interest in their higher education institutions.

GPP incorporates 5 components: an introductory seminar; the hosting of the US delegation in Basel; a joint seminar in Riva San Vitale, Ticino; visits to HE institutions in the US and a conference held in Washington at the programme's close. Programme structure > [PDF/528 KB]

'Participation in the GPP 2011 provided me with a very valuable experience. It allowed me to gain insights into the High Education (HE) sector in the US as well as helped me to better understand the HE structure in Switzerland. I was able to reflect on my own experience as a PhD student and a postdoc and discuss important topics such as PhD education, student’s foreign exchange, HE career progression etc. with my peers as well as more senior university members. I met many wonderful people and made friends.' Olga Timoshenko, GPP 2011
